Cloud Foundry Service Marketplace and Service Consumption

In the Cloud Foundry environment on SAP BTP, a service instance is a reserved resource created from a service that developers enable and consume within their applications. Developers create service instances to gain access to the capabilities of a given service, such as SAP Event Mesh, and can do so via tools like the Cloud Foundry Command Line Interface. In addition to managed service instances, developers can also create user-provided service instances to connect their applications to external or existing resources not available in the service marketplace.
